Text: “But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by Him shall glory; but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped.”
Psalm 63:11.
Good morning,
truth-speaking Christian! Like the
author, you have been granted God’s free and Sovereign grace in Salvation; you
have been permitted to know the Truth (Christ Jesus), and the Truth has made
you and I FREE. Hallelujah! What a rejoicing this is for our regenerate,
Bible-believing, hearts! Glory to the
Lamb Who is worthy! Thanks be to God!
“Rejoice in
the Lord (in Christ Jesus, if you are redeemed by Christ’s sinless Blood!)
always: and again I say, Rejoice. Let
your moderation be known unto all men.
The Lord is at hand.”
(Philippians 4:4-5)
Now Reader,
let’s just pause for a moment and Scripturally reason this statement out
together; take a little time to think it through, and receive the blessing of
the Lord’s Word.
You and I
have sought the Lord by His free grace alone, we have been convinced of our vile
sins by God the Holy Spirit; shown the full and impeccable righteous standard
of Jesus Christ, whereby we can gain Heaven; and become completely clear that
there will, indeed, be a Divine judgement for all who have sinned, and never been
forgiven by our Holy Lord God.
God’s vital
truths have been clearly revealed unto us, and by the quickening power of God
the Holy Spirit, we have yielded our human will to the Lord God, and received
Salvation through the full Atonement Sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ at
Calvary’s Cross. Being permitted to come
to know these Divine truths, THE TRUTH
HIMSELF has set us FREE!
If we
cannot fully rejoice to know and have this full assurance, then there is
something lacking in our soul’s Salvation, and we need to revisit God’s way of
being saved.
“Nevertheless
I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not
away, the Comforter (Holy Spirit) will not come unto you; but if I depart, I
will send Him unto you. AND when He is
come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement.” (John 16:7-8)
“Jesus
saith unto him (Thomas), I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life: no man cometh
unto the Father, but by Me.)” (John 14:6)
“And ye
shall know the TRUTH, and THE TRUTH (Jesus Christ) shall make you free…if the
Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” (John 8:32; 36)
Conclusion: If you and
I have been ‘quickened’ (made Spiritually alive) to know the TRUTH; the Lord
Jesus Christ Himself, and been granted the gift of faith to believe and receive
Salvation in Him – how can we refuse to fervently rejoice? Hallelujah!
REJOICE!
Being in
this manner fully convinced of our Eternal Salvation, found in Jesus Christ and
His Sacrifice at the Cross alone – you and I are duty-bound to be very early to
share this ‘good news’ - by God’s strength and grace - with as many other lost
souls as we possibly can!
“The fruit
of the righteous is a tree of life; and he/she that winneth (wins, and
continues to try to win) souls is wise.”
(Proverbs 11: 30)
Our honest
and open rejoicing should, in fact, reveal to others that we have been to see
Jesus and received faith, God’s free gift to ‘His people’, to be forgiven of
all our sins, and graciously and Eternally SAVED. This is the power of a fully assured testimony
of Salvation in Christ!
There can be no SECRET CHRISTIANS! Every Christian has a public duty to serve
Christ!
The Truth
has not saved us to sit around stuck and silent about it! Never!
We are saved to serve the Lord Jesus Christ in the gathering in of His
Harvest of elect souls! We are to be
conductors of His Gospel message of Salvation to other souls lost in their
sins. We must be ambassadors for the
Lord Jesus Christ!
“A wicked
messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.” (Proverbs 13:17)
“Now then
we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you
in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
For He (God the Father) hath made Him (God the Son) to be sin for us Who
knew no sin; that we (the elect of God) might be made the righteousness of God
in Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:20-21)
There is in
fact, a most practical purpose for outward evangelical Christian rejoicing:
when we rejoice, openly and with full confident assurance of Eternal Salvation
in Christ Jesus, the elect who may still be in sins darkness, and yet
unawakened to their sin, see our rejoicing; wonder within themselves what we
are rejoicing about – and all those whom our Sovereign Lord God has elected to
save, shall begin to be ‘quickened’ by God the Spirit, and drawn with the cords
of our Father’s love to the Cross of Christ.
By our outward and sincere rejoicing, we are seeking to win other
precious souls for Christ – God the Holy Spirit does the rest. Glory to His Name! Thanks be to the God of Sovereign grace!
“For by
grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of
God: not of works lest any man/woman should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
The Lord
God always honours His Word when ‘His people’ rejoice outwardly in His truth.
Verse 11. “But the
mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped. And the sooner the better.
If shame will not do it, nor fear, nor reason, then let them be stopped
with the sexton’s shovel-full of earth; for a liar is a human devil, he is the
curse of men, and accursed of God, Who has comprehensively said, ‘All liars
shall have their part in the lake which burneth (burns and eternally burns)
with fire and brimstone.’ See the
difference between the mouth that praises God and the mouth that forges lies: the
first shall never be stopped, but shall sing forever; the second shall be made
speechless at the bar of God.” (C.H.
Spurgeon, Treasury of David, page 277)
Verse 11. “But the king
shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by Him shall glory. King David, the man after God’s own heart, writing under the
Divine inspiration of God the Holy Spirit, prophecies the rejoicing he shall
have for all Eternity in Heaven. If you
and I, Reader, are today found securely redeemed by the precious, sinless Blood
of Jesus, we too can confidently look forward to this same rejoicing for all
Eternity with Him in Heaven. Glory, all
glory to the Lamb Who is indeed worthy!
Thought: “O God, Thou art my God; early will I
seek Thee: my soul thirsteth for Thee…”
Early seekers after Christ’s Salvation always find His arms open to
receive them. This exposition sets forth
Psalm 63: A Psalm for ‘Early-Seekers’
