Text: “He that hath My commandments, and keepeth them (obeys and continues to obey them), he it is that loveth Me; and he that loveth Me shall be loved of My Father, and I will love him/her, and will manifest (reveal) Myself to him/her.”
John 14:21.
Good morning, Spiritually
seeing Christian! The Lord God has given
you - by His free grace and Salvation - Spiritual vision; sight beyond the
concept of the human eye; Divinely imparted vision indeed. Praise God for Spiritual sight!
“…One thing I KNOW,
that, whereas I was blind, now I see.” (John 9:25)
We all know the old worldly
adage, ‘Seeing is believing’. In other
words, if we can see something clearly with our own eyes, then, and only then,
will we believe it is a sure reality.
However, when the Lord Jesus
saves a soul, He turns that worldly saying on its head. Christ Jesus imparts Spiritual sight by granting
us faith to clearly believe before we see.
Praise God it is so!
“Now faith is the
substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not (visibly) seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)
“(For we walk by
faith, not by sight)" (2 Corinthians 5:7)
Our text for today teaches us
that we Christians show our love to the Lord God by seeking to be obedient to
His Commandments. Our faithfulness is
measured by our continual attempts to obey the Commandments of the Living Lord
God, as written in Exodus 20:1-17; and taught by Christ Jesus.
Note that I say ’attempts to obey the Commandments…’, not our actual and total obedience to God’s Ten Commandments - for there has never existed a man
or woman who could perfectly keep the Ten Commandments. Only the incarnate Lord
Jesus could, and did. Praise His sinless Name!
“For we have not an
High Priest (Jesus Christ) which cannot be touched with the feeling of our
infirmities (failings, falterings, fallings into temptation and sin); but was
in all points tempted like as we are, YET WITHOUT SIN. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne
of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews
4:15-16)
If even one person was able to
perfectly obey God’s Ten Commandments,
Christ Jesus, the Son of God, would not have had to suffer and die on the Cross
to save sinners! (Romans 3:10) (John 3:16) Meditate on this!
“But He was wounded
for OUR transgressions, He was bruised for OUR iniquities; the chastisement of
OUR peace was upon Him (on the Cross) and by His stripes we are healed
(Spiritually forgiven and saved).” (Isaiah 53:5)
If you are a Spiritually
regenerate (born from Above) Christian reading this Bible Lesson, without
actually seeing the tangible reality of what I am saying with your eyes, you
nonetheless believe my message with all your heart. You have no doubts at all that what I am
teaching you is God’s truth. Right?
You do so only because God has
given you and I faith to believe His word with our hearts - without having to
see the reality with our eyes!
Unregenerate, unsaved, people cannot see or understand God’s realities in this manner. Such profound realities are Spiritually
revealed to believers only!
“Now we have
received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we
might know the things that are freely given to us of God…But the natural man (the unsaved, unregenerate)
receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God (capital S!); for they are
foolishness unto him/her; neither can he/she know them, because they are
spiritually discerned.” (1 Corinthians 2:12-14)
One of the disciples in our Bible
reading for today, ‘Judas…not Iscariot…’, asked the
relevant question: ‘How is it that Thou wilt manifest (reveal, show)
Thyself unto us (believers), and not unto the world (unbelievers)?” (V.22)
“Jesus answered and
said unto him, If a man love Me, he/she will keep (be obedient to) My words;
and My Father will love him/her and we will come unto him/her, and make Our
abode with him/her.” (V.23)
God dwells within the very
essence of every true Christian’s heart. How do we KNOW this fact? Simple.
We believe by the faith God has given us.
Thought: If you believe my message today, you prove to yourself that you possess vital Spiritual sight; you are a child of the Living Lord God indeed. May this cause you and I to seek to be obedient to God’s Word.
