Text: “And I (Christ Jesus) will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter (capital C), that he may abide with you (the true church) for ever; even the Spirit (capital S) of truth; Whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him; but ye (believers) know Him; for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you."
John 14:16-17.
Good morning indwelt
Christian! Being ‘…bought with a Price…’; ‘…the precious Blood of Christ, as of a Lamb without
blemish and without spot…’; you are not your
own, but belong to Him that purchased your never-dying soul on the Cross of
Calvary. Praise God, we are fully
Redeemed!
Throughout the world today,
people pay large sums of money to build houses.
They take out mortgages, borrow finances, for one purpose - to build
houses in which they might live.
The Lord Jesus Christ not only
paid the great Price of our Salvation at
We are ’…vessels…’ recreated in Christ..., for God to dwell in.
What a privilege!
“For we (the saved)
are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God
hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:10)
“For though Him we
both have access by one Spirit unto the Father…And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus
Christ Himself being the chief corner stone;…in Whom ye also are
builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.” (Ephesians
2:18-22)
We Christians have been
purchased in Blood to be indwelt by God the Holy Spirit Himself! We are the temple of the Living Lord God!
“What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of
the Holy Ghost (God the Holy Spirit) which is in you, which ye have of God, and
ye are not your own? For ye are bought
with a Price (the Blood of the Lamb);
therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
Are you experiencing great
difficulties at this time, dear Christian?
Is your health, perhaps, failing you?
Are your friends, even Christian friends, betraying you or letting you
down in some manner? Are the debtors
knocking on your door? Is your home
about to be repossessed by the bank? Are
you living in fear of your life; not knowing exactly where your next crust of
bread for yourself and your family is going to come from? Fear not!
You have an ever-present Comforter Who has promised never to leave you
nor forsake you. Hallelujah! Our God is a very present help in times of
trouble!
“God is our refuge
and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the
mountains be carried into the midst of the sea…” (Psalm 46:1-2)
Not only has the Lord God
promised to live within us, His true church; but has also promised to ‘…teach us all things…bring all things to
our remembrance.’ (V.26) Praise God, we are tutored by God Himself!
After quoting some Scripture
at a Bible Study - in order to give Divine Authority to what I had taught - one
student later asked me, “Doctor McClinton,
how do you remember not only the proper Scripture to use, but also exactly
where that Scripture is found in the Bible?” (Psalm 119:11)
Immediately I drew his
attention to John chapter 14, and verse 26.
I then proceeded to expound the verse, break the verse down into smaller,
more understandable phrases, and explain what the verse meant for both the
Bible student and myself.
I emphasized the fact that, of
myself, I could remember very little.
However, I could teach myself portions of Scripture and try hard to
remember them when I needed to use them to minister unto others. But that was not what I was doing; I was
doing something else entirely different – I was trusting God.
I then broke the verse up and
explained the fact that it was not what I had taught myself that mattered; nor
was it anything to bring glory to myself.
I only remembered what God, the Holy Ghost, had taught me, and HE then
brought what He had taught me to my remembrance when required to preach or
teach the Gospel of Christ Jesus and Him Crucified. Glory to the Lord! Christian Bible Teachers have nothing that we haven't been first given from the hand of an infinitely gracious and generous Lord God.
Thought: Study the Bible. Let God bring His Word to your remembrance. Exercise faith. ‘Open your mouth…I will fill it…’
