Text: “The Lord is my light and my Salvation; whom shall I
fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
-
- - - Psalm 27:1.
Good morning, indomitable Christian! What makes
you thus indomitable? You are a man or a woman of mere flesh and bone -
how can you stand up so forthrightly against so much in this sinful world; so
much in our own sinful flesh; so many wiles of a dastardly Devil, who knows
that his time is short, and is in a continual rage against the true regenerate
Christian? What makes you and I so Spiritually indomitable?
Answer: “The Lord is MY light and my Salvation…”
Hallelujah!
Because the Lord God Almighty is our light and our
Salvation; because HE as Sovereign Lord, is in full and complete control of
‘all things’, we are indomitable, for we know in our hearts that He makes ‘all
things’ work together for our good…’ Praise God it is so! Amen.
“And we know that all things work together for good to
them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.
For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image
of His Son (Christ Jesus), that He might be the firstborn among many
brethren.” (Romans 8:28-29)
Dictionary Definition:
Indomitable - (adjective) not to be
overcome, unconquerable. (The Chambers Dictionary, page 819)
An army, or a national boxing champion, for example,
can only be deemed ‘indomitable’ AFTER winning continually. To win
continually necessitates being tested continually, to be in the battle
continually; and only after continually winning can an army, or an individual,
be deemed ‘indomitable’. “1 Peter 4:12-14)
We that are born again of Christ Jesus, are (or should
be!) in a continual Battle against all the powers of evil and Spiritual
darkness. If we are not in this situation of continual Spiritual warfare
- then rest assured we are NOT SAVED. God’s Word puts it like this:
“And the Lord said unto Moses, Write this for a
memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly
put out the remembrance of Amalek (a type of the world, flesh and Devil) from
under Heaven. And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah
nissi (The Lord my Banner): for He said, Because the Lord hath sworn that the
Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.”
(Exodus 17:14-16)
You and I as Spiritually regenerate Christians are
engaged in a Spiritual war that will only cease when the ‘Captain of the Host’,
Christ Jesus, returns to finally end it.
“And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord
shall consume with the spirit of His mouth, and shall destroy with the
brightness of His coming.” - (2
Thessalonians 2:8)
Verse 1: “The Lord is my
light and my Salvation. Where there
is not enough light to see our own darkness and to long for the Lord Jesus
there is no evidence of Salvation. Salvation finds us in the dark, but
does not leave us there. It is not said merely that the Lord gives
light, but that He IS light; not that He gives Salvation, but that He IS
Salvation.” (C.H. Spurgeon, Treasury of David, page 135)
“There is a great difference between the light and the
eye that sees it. A blind man may know a great deal about the shining of
the sun, but it does not shine for him - it gives him no light. So, to
know that ‘God is light.’ is one thing (1 John 1:5) and to be able to say, ‘The
Lord is my light,’ is quite another thing. When He is thus ‘our light,’
then He is ‘our Salvation,’ also. He is pledged to guide us right; not
only to show us sin but to save us from it, not only to make us see God’s
hatred of sin and His curse upon it, but also to draw us unto God’s love and to
take away the curse. (From Sacramental Meditations)
Today, in this increasingly apostate 21st
Century, many seem to know about the Light in Christ Jesus, but having very
little to SAY publicly about Him, betray their lack of true Spiritual
regeneration. “…Having a form of godliness, but denying the power
thereof; from such turn away.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5)
The church international and universal must look once
more for the true Light - Christ Jesus - and commit every whit of our hearts to
His Sovereign Cause. Only then can we be truly indomitable Christian
soldiers of the Cross.
The Lord Jesus: “His wisdom is the finest, His judgement the truest,
His analysis of life the deepest, His assertion of duty the most authoritative
that human ears have ever heard. It needs distance to make a man look
great. God manifest in the flesh alone can bear minute, penetrating
inspection, for He is Holy. It was the Name, the Person, which stirred
the early Church, and the same must stir the Church now.” (Bishop J.T.
Smith 1860-1937)
